The Office of English Language Programs is proud to offer scholarships for the online course Exploring Web 2.0: Tools for Classroom Teaching and Professional Development. This course trains English language professionals in the use of web tools to optimize the use of internet resources for teaching purposes and to conduct distance education or enhance face-to-face instruction. Requirements for candidates
Candidates should be Mexican teacher trainers or classroom teachers who have some experience using Web resources themselves and/or with students. They should be highly motivated individuals, willing to share their knowledge gained with colleagues through publications, workshops or professional presentations. Preference will be given to those who teach subjects related to using technology in the classroom or use technology in their classes. In addition, candidates should meet the following criteria:
English language skills:
· ability to do academic work at the level of a U.S. university (an advanced level of reading and writing, roughly equivalent to a minimum TOEFL score of 550);
· general understanding of technical terms in English relating to computers and the Internet;
Computer fundamentals:
· regular and dependable access to e-mail and the Internet (a high-speed connection is essential);
· basic familiarity with the Internet and web browsers to conduct searches;
· ability to type in English well enough to perform on-line tasks in real-time and to submit written assignments in a timely manner.
Technical requirements:
· Internet connection needs to be sufficient to view video tutorials and other materials.

What the scholarship includes
Tuition and materials will be paid for by the Office of English Language Programs. Certificates of completion will be given to participants who finish the course successfully.
Time frame
The course lasts for three weeks and it will run from March 23 to April 10, 2015.
The time commitment is about 1-2 hours/day, but participants do not have to be online at any specific time and can complete assignments any time, day or night.
